Fort Peck Assiniboine & Sioux Reservation, in Northeastern Montana. Tribal buffalo heard in part of the tribe's 9000 acre buffalo preserve that has been increased in size from an original 4000 acres. They also will expand to an additional 5000 acres so as to have two herds: one for commercial use and one for tribal traditional use. Afternoon thunderstorms assemble over short-grass prairie.

Post Creek fed by Mc Donald Glacier and snowfields of Mc Donald Peak, roars through the western red cedar, Thuja plicata, forest with “deadfall” trees across the creek. This area is a seasonally closed area as part of the Grizzly Bear Management Area. This is to restrict human/grizzly interaction during a period when grizzly are actively foraging moth larva.
Middle Fork Jocko River beaver ponds with felled tree supporting islands of water-hemlock, cicuta douglasii,and yellow monkey-flowers, Mimulus guttatus. Border area between Mission Mountain Wilderness and the Tribal Primitive Area. Confderated Salish Kootenai, Montana.
